The European Union's veto of an Alstom-Siemens rail merger has revived debate over competition regulations that some say are obsolete in the face of growing rivalry from Chinese giants.
The EU did not approve of the proposed merger between the German company Siemens and the French Alstom in order to maintain the competition in the European market.
