EU hobbled over Navalny sanctions response

European countries have threatened sanctions on Russia over the alleged nerve agent attack on Alexei Navalny, but a concerted decision will be tough to reach given the interests at stake
The Russian blogger and opposition politician Alexei Navalny is standing on 08.02.2017 in court in Kirov (Russia). The Russian opposition Alexei Navalny threatened by a conviction in a controversial criminal case a candidate lock on the presidential election in 2018. The court in the city of Kirov northeast of Moscow sentenced Nawalny on 08.02. He was sentenced to five years' probation and a fine and confirmed his first judgment in 2013.
