The leaders of the 27 EU countries are discussing possible ways to address the Belarus crisis as huge protests continue in the former Soviet state following this month's disputed election.
Belarusian electoral authorities said long-time President Alexander Lukashenko appeared to have won re-election following a night of clashes with protesters who accused the vote of being rigged. The European Union has shown its concern regarding both the elections and the violence used in the demonstrations.
