Terms of use
These terms of use (hereinafter the “Terms”) apply to your use of the ednHUB portal available on https://ednh.news (hereinafter the “Platform”). By accessing the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. We reserve the right to modify or to update these Terms at any time and at our sole discretion. Please consult these Terms on a regular basis as any modification thereto becomes effective upon publication on the Platform.
1. Ownership of the Platform and the Content
The European Data News Hub (EDNH) is a joint project of the news agencies AFP, ANSA, ANP, dpa, TT and AGERPRES (hereinafter the “Project Partners”) which has received funding from the European Commission.
As between the Project Partners and you, subject to section 3 below, the Project Partners or their licensors remain the sole owners of the Platform, all its components and any content (text, photos, videos, fact-check articles, sound bites, still and animated graphics, metadata and any other content whatever its form) displayed on the Platform (hereinafter the “Content). The Platform and the Content are protected by European and international copyright and other intellectual property laws and treaties.
2. Permitted use of the Platform and the Content
You may only use (reproduce, download, embed, communicate to the public) the Content for news purposes and solely in relation to European issues, provided you are a journalist/media. No commercial use is allowed.
Any use of the Content is only allowed once and shall be without any edition or alteration. The publication of photos, videos and/or graphics is only allowed with the related text (as a package) and not on a stand-alone basis or incorporated into any other material or derivative work.
In any use of the Content, please name the relevant Project Partner and the ednHUB as the source, include a link to the Content as displayed on the Platform, and keep all mentions of credit or copyright to acknowledge the concerned Project Partner’s rights.
Any use of the Content shall only be allowed during the term of the EDNH project.
Any other use of the Platform and/or the Content, in particular (by way of example and without limitation) any distribution, modification, translation, archiving, decompilation, extraction, scraping of the Platform and/or the Content, in whole or in part, for any other purpose, without the prior written consent of the Project Partner(s) who hold(s) the right to authorize such use, is strictly prohibited.
3. Limitations and disclaimers of liability
The Platform, the Content and, as for fact-check articles, any third parties materials which may be included in or used to produce the fact-check articles, are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement of third parties rights. You are responsible for making your own verification and assessment of the Content and are solely responsible for the consequences of any decision made or transaction carried out on the basis of any Content available on the Platform. Your use of the Platform and the Content is under your sole and full responsibility.
The Project Partners hold no releases or clearances from the individuals or entities who may be featured in the Content, or from the owners of depicted trademarks, works, events, soundbites or from any other individual or entity who may hold intellectual property rights, neighbouring rights (including, without limitation, moral rights and performers’ rights), publicity rights, privacy rights or any other rights in and to the subject matter or the Content or in and to the Content itself.
When the Content is a fact-check article, any third parties materials included therein or used to produce the fact-check article are so to the extent necessary for the verification carried out in such fact-check. The Project Partners hold no license in and to any such third parties materials, whatever their form: text, photos, videos, sound bites, graphics, protected works, trademarks, logos, emblems, software, tools, programs or any components thereof, etc. The Project Partners hold no releases or clearances from the individuals or entities who may be featured in such third parties materials, or from the owners of depicted trademarks, works, events, soundbites or from any other individual or entity who may hold intellectual property rights, neighbouring rights (including, without limitation, moral rights and performers’ rights), publicity rights, privacy rights or any other rights in and to such third parties materials.
The Project Partners are not responsible for the websites referenced on or referencing the Platform (in particular by means of a hyperlink). References made to third parties websites on the Platform shall by no means be construed as an approval or endorsement by the Project Partners of these websites or their content. Third parties websites are not under the control of the Project Partners (who are not responsible in any way for any of their content) and are governed by their own terms of use.
The access to or the availability of the Platform and/or the Content may be totally or partially interrupted or run slowly due to causes beyond the Project Partners’ control or may be totally or partially modified, suspended, interrupted or restricted by the Project Partners at any time.
The Project Partners do not guarantee that the Platform and the Content are provided without interruption, server downtime or delay or free from errors or any breach of security due to hackings, security intrusions, bugs, viruses, malwares, etc., that may affect your hardware, software or data.
In no event shall the Project Partners be liable for any damages whatsoever arising out of or related to your access to or use of, or your impossibility to access or use, the Platform and/or the Content.
4. Miscellaneous
If one or more provisions of these Terms are held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable under any applicable law or rule, or declared invalid, illegal or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction,
such invalidity, illegality or unenforceability shall not affect any other provision of these Terms, which shall remain in full force and effect.

The goal is to offer a comprehensive picture of the work and emphasise the key role of the European Union and give readers a better understanding of the EU. How long will the project last?
The European Data News Hub was launched in June 2017 will be online until March 2025.
How can you guarantee editorial independence?
News gathering and the production of data driven content in this project are completely free of external influence, which in turn guarantees that coverage lives up to the strict requirements of the editorial charter. This document lays down that reporting must be free of bias and unfettered by political, economic or governmental ideologies.
